KEYNOTE SPEAKER

BRIGADIER GENERAL REID J. NOVOTNY

Deputy Director, J5 Plans and Policy for United States Cyber Command

Big. Gen. Reid J. Novotny is the Special Assistant to Director, Air National Guard for CYBERCOM J5. Previous to this assignment, he served as the Group Commander for the 175th Cyberspace Operations Group comprised of two National Mission Teams, a Cyber Protection Team, a Cyber Operational Support Squadron, and a Cyber Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Squadron. He was responsible for 400 Airmen who operate as Title 10 operators defending the Air Force Networks and denying advisory malicious nation-state actors through computer network attack and exploitation under the United States Cyber Command Cyber Mission National Forces. General Novotny also represented the largest force of cyber professionals in the state of Maryland who operate in support of State, County, and Local governments through partnerships.

General Novotny also served as the National Guard J6 on the State’s Joint Staff. He was responsible for coordinating the employment of Maryland National Guard service component forces and equipment providing communications, cyber, and information management capabilities in support of joint domestic operations and exercises. While on Active Duty, he was the Director of Staff for the Chief, Information Dominance and Chief Information Officer for the United States Air Force. In his previous assignment, he commanded the 35th Communications Squadron at Misawa Air Base, Japan. There he oversaw 225 personnel and sustained Misawa’s 318-million-dollar communications infrastructure. He received his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program after graduating from The George Washington University with the distinguished graduate award.
